Former Darshan Singh Brar Award Honorees
The first award was announced in 2021. A committee of international scientists evaluated the nominations and selected Dr. S. S. Banga as the first awardee. The award ceremony was held on August 17, 2022, at the Dr. Manmohan Singh Auditorium. The award carried a plaque and a monetary award of Rs. 3 Lakh. Dr. Banga thanked the Foundation, but graciously donated the award money back to the Foundation.
Award Recipients 2023
Dr. Sanghamitra Samantaray, Principal Scientist at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack, was honored for her research in rice biotechnology.
Dr. Manpreet Mavi, a senior soil chemist in the Department of Soil Science at PAU, Ludhiana, won the first “Young Scientist” category award.
Award Recipients 2024
Dr. Parveen Chhuneja, Principal Molecular Geneticist and Director of the School of Agricultural Biotech, for contributions to the wheat gene pool.
Dr. Manpreet Singh, Extension Specialist, for his outstanding contributions in developing and commercializing farm machinery for paddy residue management, teaching, and extension.
